The UAE will ban the import of dangerous breeds of dogs

Dr. Thani Al-Zawd (Minister of Climate Change and the Environment) commented: «By October this year, we intend to introduce new rules for the transportation of pets to the country. This step aims to limit the transport of potentially dangerous breeds of animals, as well as to prevent the appearance in the country of animals infected with dangerous diseases. All terms and conditions will be consolidated into a single regulation, simple and understandable for all.»

At the moment, the list of new banned breeds by the ministry has not yet been published, but the innovations will come into force in October this year.

Today it is prohibited to import the following breeds into the UAE:

• American Pit Bull Terrier and all its varieties;
• Dogo Argentino;
• Brazilian Fila;
• merikansky Staffordshire Terrier;
• Tosa Inu;
• any hybrid dog and wolf;
• any hybrid with the above breeds.
